Our Teams

  • Crieff Men

Crieff and Strathearn Men’s team have been playing rugby in Crieff for 50 years, during which time the team have consistently punched above their weight and made significant achievements. The men’s team currently play in the Caledonia Midlands League Division 3, having narrowly missed out on promotion in 2021. Our players come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences with players who have competed at a high level and players new to rugby. Whatever your experience or ability players aged 18+ are welcome to come along to training, join touch rugby sessions, or support from the sidelines.

  • Crieff Women

Crieff and Strathearn Women’s team was formed in 2019 and is a development side currently playing in the Scottish Rugby Aspiring league, which allows those newer to the game to build match experience before progressing to the Caledonia leagues. We have a wide range of experience and abilities with complete beginners and players who have played at the Scottish Premiership level. We welcome all members whether you want to enjoy the social aspect, playing, or fitness. Despite a difficult start during the pandemic, the team continues to grow and welcomes women of all levels of experience to come and give rugby a try, whether they want to play competitively or just keep fit.

  • Crieff Minis

Minis rugby is the future of Crieff and Strathearn RFC, where our groups of girls and boys from Primary 1 to Primary 7 learn the basics, develop skills and, above all, have fun!

Minis rugby is split into age groups including:

P1&2 - where the very basics of moving passing and catching are taught

P3 - A transitional group to prepare for the more technical aspects of rugby

P4-7 Girls - A group for girls to learn rugby skills without competing directly with boys, although they are welcome to join the mixed groups for matches, tournaments etc

P4&5 - Where individual skills around tackling, moving, catching and passing are developed, along with more structured gameplay

P6&7 - The final stage in Minis development, where individual skills are honed and team tactical skills introduced, along with an introduction to scrums and lineouts.

Minis rugby consists of regular training on Sundays at 1100, as well as midweek training for older groups, led by SRU-accredited coaches and supported by a small army of parent volunteers! Regular matches, both at home and away to other clubs, as well as tournaments, can be enjoyed throughout the season.

Youth Rugby

Youth rugby provides players with an opportunity to build on the skill learnt at the Minis level, and apply it in competitive gameplay. As well as developing more advanced individual skills, the focus in youth rugby is on building tactical knowledge and understanding and learning to play and compete as a team.

Youth rugby at Crieff and Strathearn RFC is delivered through two routes:

Girls

A new girls section covering S1 - S3 age girls has been established and training will be held at the Strathearn Community Campus on Wednesdays. Here girls will be able to develop their skills and build a new rugby community among their peers in the fast-growing section of women's rugby. This is open to all S1-S3 girls in the area, regardless of the school they attend.

Boys

In order to maximise the benefit to our male youths and provide them with the highest level of development, Crieff and Strathearn RFC work with Morrisons Academy to deliver Crieff Schools Rugby. This allows all S1 to S6 pupils in the area, regardless of school attended, to train and play with the Morrisons Academy teams and experience a high level of competitive rugby.

As the club continues to grow, these youth sections will be a key priority to further develop and ensure that the next generation of talent is fed into the adult teams and beyond.

We are always looking for new players!

All ages and abilities are welcome!
